Effective August 31st, 2013our CAPM exam simulator questions and study material will reflect the newestPMBOK Guide5th edition material. Current and new students can be confident that all tests and questions will align with the newPMBOK Guideafter this date. Over 200 new questions were added and more than 300 questions were rewritten or modified to ensure compliancy with the new version.

What this means to all aspiring PMPs.

1. The CAPM exam simulator questions will adhere to the newPMBOK Guide5th edition as of August 31st.
2. There will be no disruption in service at any time. Students will have access to all tests before, on and after August 31st.
3. Students will continue to have access to their previously stored test results and certificate of contact hours/PDUs earned prior to August 31st and will continue to earn PDU's based on their tests completed.

In summary,the transition to the new version of thePMBOK Guidematerial will be transparent to all students. As always, we wish you the best of luck on your exam day.

What are the major differences from the 4th editionPMBOK Guideto the 5th editionPMBOK Guide?

The major change to the 5thedition is the addition of a new knowledge area named Stakeholder Management comprised of four processes; 2 new and 2 existing.

2 new processes:

  • Plan Stakeholder Management- The process of developing appropriate management strategies to effectively engage stakeholders throughout the project life cycle, based on the analysis of their needs, interests, and potential impact on project success.
  • Control Stakeholder Engagement- The process of monitoring overall project stakeholder relationships and adjusting strategies and plans for engaging stakeholders.

2 processes from the Communications Management knowledge area:

  • Identify Stakeholders- Identifying people and organizations impacted by the project. Documenting their interests, influence, involvement, and impact on project success.
  • Manage Stakeholder Engagement- Issue management and fostering support and engagement with stakeholders throughout the project.

3 more new processes have been added focused on developing a management plan specific to a knowledge area as follows:

  • Plan Scope Management- The process of creating a scope management plan that documents how the project scope will be defined, validated, and controlled.
  • Plan Schedule Management- The process of establishing policies, procedures, and documentation for planning, developing, managing, executing, and controlling the project schedule.
  • Plan Cost Management- The process that establishes policies, procedures, and documentation for planning, managing, expending, and controlling project costs.

11 processes were renamed as follows:

  1. Direct and Manage Project Execution to Direct and Manage Project Work
  2. Verify Scope to Validate Scope
  3. Plan Quality to Plan Quality Management
  4. Perform Quality Control to Control Quality
  5. Develop Human Resource Plan to Plan Human Resource Management
  6. Plan Communications to Plan Communications Management
  7. Distribute Information to Manage Project Communications
  8. Report Performance to Control Communications
  9. Monitor and Control Risks to Control Risks
  10. Plan Procurements to Plan Procurement Management
  11. Administer Procurements to Control Procurements
